Start with the stage, not the headline time
A withdrawal request and money arriving in your bank account are different events. When a payment is delayed, first establish whether the operator has received the request, is reviewing it, or has sent the money. That tells you which question to ask next.
This guide is for adults using online gambling businesses licensed in Great Britain. Northern Ireland and overseas services may have different rules. It is a checklist for understanding a payment, not a ranking of fast casinos or a promise about any withdrawal. For the checks before opening an account, see our guide to choosing a gambling site.
Separate the main stages
An operator may use different names for these stages. Treat them as questions to clarify, not standard status labels shared by every casino:
- Request recorded: is there a withdrawal reference, amount, destination and request time?
- Review: has the operator identified any outstanding account or payment check?
- Payment sent: when was it released, by which method, and is there a payment reference?
- Money received: does the transaction appear in the receiving account, with the expected amount?
A status such as pending or processed needs the operator’s definition. Do not infer that your bank is holding the money simply because the gambling account no longer shows it as available.
Read what a processing estimate covers
An estimate may describe the operator’s handling time or the payment provider’s separate processing time. As a concrete example, bet365’s GB help page distinguishes its own processing from the provider stage. Its methods page also describes method-specific details. This illustrates why a single headline is insufficient; it is not a speed comparison or evidence of a Pickybet withdrawal test.
Read the explanation attached to your own payment method. Ask when the clock starts, whether the estimate uses hours or working days, and what the operator means by working days. Save the answer with the date. If two official pages give different estimates, ask which applies to your request rather than combining them into a guaranteed deadline.
Check the destination before requesting payment
Use the withdrawal options actually available in your account. A method that accepts deposits is not automatically evidence that it can receive your withdrawal.
For example, bet365’s GB methods guidance describes returning funds to the deposit card where possible and using a bank transfer where it cannot return them to that card. This is an operator-specific example, not a rule for all casinos. Check your provider’s current instructions and eligibility.
Confirm the intended account and currency through the official account interface. If a card has expired or the available destination looks wrong, ask support how to handle it. Do not use another person’s account to work around a payment problem. Keep full bank details out of public posts and send requested information only through the operator’s verified channel.
Distinguish a payment check from bonus wagering
If support says the funds are restricted, ask which balance and condition it means. The Commission’s guidance says deposit funds must remain withdrawable while a bonus is pending or active, subject to necessary regulatory obligations. A bonus wagering target is a separate issue; see our wagering requirements guide.
There can still be a legitimate need for information. The Commission says a withdrawal must not trigger an identity-information request that could reasonably have been made earlier, while recognising that other legal obligations may require a request at that point. Our account verification guide explains how to clarify documents and outstanding checks. Repeatedly uploading the same file will not explain which payment stage remains unresolved.
Keep a short withdrawal record
A useful record makes your follow-up precise:
- Request date and time, including the time zone if shown.
- Amount, currency, withdrawal reference and a safely masked destination.
- The status shown and when it last changed.
- The applicable processing estimate and what event starts it.
- Any information requested, the date supplied and acknowledgement of receipt.
- Support replies and the next date or action the operator has given you.
Keep the record private. A saved reference helps the operator find the transaction; a public screenshot containing account information adds risk without speeding up the payment.
What to ask when the estimate has passed
Contact the operator through its official support route and describe the missed estimate. For example: “Withdrawal reference [reference] was requested on [date]. The stated estimate was [period], starting from [event]. Has the payment been sent? If so, please confirm the date, method and a reference I can use to trace it. If not, what action is outstanding and when will you review it?”
If the operator confirms the payment was sent, use its response to ask the receiving bank or payment provider about the transaction through that provider’s own secure channel. If the operator has not sent it, ask the operator about the unresolved step. Neither question requires a further gambling deposit.
When to use the complaints process
If support does not resolve the problem, follow the operator’s formal complaints procedure. State the issue, the dates and amount, what you have already supplied and the outcome you are seeking. Retain the complaint and replies.
The Commission’s consumer guidance gives the business eight weeks to resolve a complaint from receipt. An eligible unresolved dispute may be escalated to its alternative dispute resolution provider after using the complaints process. That is a complaint-handling period, not an acceptable withdrawal estimate or a reason to postpone asking about a delayed payment.
Does approved mean the money has arrived?
No. Ask what approved means in that operator’s system and whether the payment has actually been sent. Check the receiving account before treating the transfer as complete.
Should I gamble while waiting?
Do not treat a delay as a reason to gamble more, replace a withdrawal with bets or deposit extra money. If waiting is creating pressure to keep playing, step away and use the support options on our safer-gambling page.
Is a previous fast withdrawal a guarantee?
No. Check the current method, status and any outstanding request each time. This guide does not establish a universal payment time, and Pickybet has not tested an operator’s payout speed.
For an unresolved account decision, our complaints process guide explains how to organise evidence and identify the appropriate escalation route.
Before making a future deposit, use our payment-method checklist to check ownership, the return route, limits and costs in advance.
If the business announces closure or insolvency, read its official payment or claims instructions alongside our customer-funds protection guide. A normal withdrawal estimate cannot establish what happens during a closure.
If you are ending the account, our account-closure guide explains how to record the remaining balance and unsettled bets alongside the closure confirmation.
